Weapons Charges

At Mines & Company, we have more than 20 years of experience defending against weapons charges in the Lower Mainland and throughout British Columbia. These charges fall into the two main categories: firearms offences and other weapons offences.

Firearms offences include:

  • Unlawful use of firearms
  • Carrying a firearm for an unlawful purpose
  • Unlawful storage of firearms

Weapons offences include possession of unregistered weapons, prohibited weapons or other charges related to non-firearms such as knives.

All weapons charges are serious. Recent legislation calls for mandatory jail sentences when firearms or imitation firearms are used in committing an offence. Our lawyers are skilled, hardworking and dedicated to helping you achieve the very best possible results in weapons cases.

In one of our recent successes (R. v. S.L. in Vancouver Provincial Court), our client was accused of assault and assault with a weapon. At issue was whether there was a reasonable likelihood of conviction. We prepared for trial. On the trial date, Crown Counsel withdrew all charges. No criminal record.

British Columbia Law Firm for Firearm and Weapons charges

Weapons charges often accompany other charges such as robbery charges, assault charges and drug charges. Our lawyers' experience includes Crown prosecution work, so we understand how multiple charges are handled from the opposition's perspective.
